Culver’s Painting has completed hundreds of wallpaper removal jobs in the Milwaukee area. If you are purchasing your new house that is covered in wallpaper or just want to switch to painted walls our crews can take down wallpaper for you efficiently and correctly. It is a messy and tedious job that requires at least 5 different steps:
1) Remove Wallpaper. We typically used steamers. We only use chemicals if the old wallpaper is especially stubborn.
2) Repair Damaged Drywall. When you tear the paper from the wall it will inevitably do some minor damage to the drywall underneath.
3) Seal wall/old glue with a proper sealer/primer. This is an important step that inexperienced wallpaper hangers skip. You need to seal the porous drywall so that traces of the old glue don’t reach with the new paint or new paper.
4) Texture if needed
5) Paint the walls with 2 coats or hang new wall paper (if changing wallpaper pattern)
